In the first major terror attack in the state since Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's PDP-BJP coalition government took charge this month, about three terrorists in military uniform, believed to be Fidayeen or suicide bombers, entered the Rajbagh police station at about 6 am on Friday and opened fire.


The attackers were said to be a fresh group of infiltrators who allegedly crossed the border last night and attacked the Rajbagh police station that was 15 km from the International Border. District authorities have closed traffic on National Highway 1 in Jammu and additional security forces, police teams have rushed to spot.


Home Minister Rajnath Singh has spoken to the Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police asking the Union Home Secretary to monitor the situation. 'Pakistan is a habitual backstabber. Pakistan needs to know that friendship and terror cannot go together," said senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad after the incident.
