7 members of a cultural troop killed in Assam road mishap

Guwahati: At least seven people of a cultural troop were killed and nine others injured in a road mishap in Assam's Tinsukia district on Friday, police said.

The incident took place at Digboi Ramnagar area in the upper Assam district on the wee hours of Friday.

"The incident happened head on collided between a truck and a Tata winger vehicle in which the Bihu cultural troop had traveled. The incident took place at national high way when the cultural troop had returned after performed a cultural programme at Kakopathar area, " a police official said.

Five persons including two girls were killed on spot and two others among the injured persons had succumbed their injuries in hospital.

The injured persons had rushed to Assam medical college hospital in Dibrugarh for better treatment.
