New Delhi: Taking a jibe at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's 'kisan padyatra' from Amravati, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday alleged that the former needs to come up with more substance rather than 'shoot and scoot style'.

"For Rahul Gandhi, you don't need to be a guest actor. In politics, you need a full time actor and then your success comes. Particularly for the Congress which is down after the Lok Sabha elections, it is important that Rahul Gandhi comes with more substance rather than 'shoot and scoot style'," BJP national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh told ANI.

"Also, he must remember it is India which decided that Congress doesn't suit and, therefore, you got the boot. So, these things must be remembered before he takes his yatras," he added.

Earlier in the day, Gandhi began his 15-km-long 'kisan padyatra' from Amravati during which he would be meeting the farmers affected by unseasonal rains in Maharashtra.

Gandhi would be meeting the families of the farmers, who committed suicide due to crop failure resulting from unseasonable rains.

The Congress vice-president, who recently returned from a 56-day break, had visited Punjab earlier on Tuesday to assess the plight of the farmers.

After meeting the farmers of Mandi Gobindgarh in Punjab, Gandhi had said that the Land Acquisition Bill is meant to snatch the land away from the farmers to benefit the industrialists.
