Hyderabad: The launch event of three Central schemes on Saturday was literally turned into the function of Bharatiya Janata Party with the ruling party workers and leaders hogging the limelight. Union HRD Minister Smriti Zubin Irani launched the Pradhan Mantri Suraksh Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyothi Bima Youjana. Except for Telangana Finance Minister Eatala Rajender, no other public representative attended the event.


However, all BJP legislators and even the former MLA N Indrasena Reddy was invited on the dais, which was against the protocol. The entire hall was packed with the BJP workers and party also managed to get a few burkha-clad women belonging to minority community. The entire event was held under the direct supervision of Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy at a star hotel in the city.

A few officials, including Principal Secretary Finance Pradeep Chandra, SLBC Convener J Sitapathi and Bank Ombudsman Krishna Mohan, participated in the event. Speaking after the launch, Smriti Irani said that the Atal Pension Yojana would provide social security cover to senior citizens and they would be eligible to get pensions from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 per month.


Similarly, the Pradhan Mantri Surksha Bima Yojana would provide accidental insurance up to Rs 2 lakh to beneficiary. Similarly PM Jeevan Jyoth Bima Yojana would cater to the poor and neglected sections. The Union Minister said all the three schemes were revolutionary and the poor, neglected and unorganised sectors would gain from these schemes.

She claimed that all the schemes, launched under the stewardship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, were quite successful. For instance, she said more than 12.5 crore Zero Balance accounts were opened under Jan Dhan Scheme and surprisingly, thousands of crores got deposited in those accounts. Telangana Finance Minister Etala praised the Centre for launching the innovative schemes. He said the schemes would benefit the poor and unorganised sector.
