New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said he had a "great interaction" with a group of 24 schoolchildren from Jammu and Kashmir who called on him.

"Had a great interaction with school children from Mawar Valley in J&K, who are touring parts of India, as part of Army's Operation Sadbhavna," the Prime Minister tweeted.

The students, from class 6 to 8, are currently on a tour to various parts of the country, as part of the Indian Army's Operation Sadbhavna. Modi interacted with the students on subjects like their studies and interest in sports. The students were thrilled when the Prime Minister mentioned the name of cricketer Parvez Rasool, a cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir, and also about the recent UPSC topper and IAS officer Shah Faisal who also hails from the state, an official statement said.

Modi said he looked forward to meeting these youth icons from the state of Jammu and Kashmir soon. In reply to a question from a student, the prime minister said Jammu and Kashmir had a lot of potential in sectors such as tourism and horticulture. Army chief General Dalbir Singh was also present on the occasion.
