Marriages are decided in heavens and celebrated on earth”, I often used to hear this from my peers and laugh it out! How can anything be pre decided? How can normal people just turn out to be soul mates? How can a person spend his/her entire life with only one person and still cry horses to be in love? These questions always popped in my mind and made me think in an antagonistic manner.

To put it in a nutshell, I am a happy go person, who hardly believed in the institution of marriage, but one thing was clear, I always wanted to get married and have heap of new bridal clothes, apparels , footwear and diamonds studded all over my neck! This was the only reason, I wanted to get married, but, we all know, life teaches us in the most unexpected manner and same was the case with me! Last year, in the month of October, my parents decided to bless my life with a better half and so I got engaged. I was still in college and it was very difficult for me to manage both the things simultaneously.

We used to talk very less because of my academic pressure, but I could sence that my parents had taken a very good decision by getting me engaged to him as he seemed to be very cooperative and understanding! Finally, the time came and it was a gala day for me, my wedding day, it was 15th of February and love was in the air!

This year February was different for me, I was going to be Mrs. Sumit Sain as opposed to being Miss Sheetal Verma! I had thousands of racing thoughts in my mind, pain of leaving my family, joy of getting a new partner, fear of adjusting in a new family; all these thoughts were rushing in my mind at the speed that could put milkha singh to shame! The moment came and all the wedding vows were exchanged and we left for a new journey! They say Mothers in law are no less than Monsters in law, but I am very thankful to God, for blessing me with a mother in law, who is more of a maa, than a “saansu Maa”.

She is one of the coolest Moms I have ever seen and I would love to maintain a very cordial and deep relation with her. My father is one of the most dynamic and vibrant personalities I have ever seen, I would love to make all their dreams come true they have seen for us! My sister in Law, is more like a daughter to be, I love her.

And the cutest member of our family Vicky, my brother in Law is the best dewar I could ever have imagined! My marriage has been a wonderful experience for me so far, having a hubby by your side is one of the most pure things you can have.

Marriage demands respect, love, care, loyalty and trust and I am sure we would dispose off all the duties with elan and grace. Marriages in India are turning out to be very sour, but if you have a great family by your side, things start to get easy! I wish every girl understands this and give her best in this ethereal affair!! Sheetal Sain, Delhi.
