New Delhi: Later today, Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani will come to know whether her position in the Cabinet is secure as ever or it is going to be rocked. For the BJP, if things turn otherwise, it has to weather another storm. Because, Magistrate Akash Jain of the Metropolitan Court would pronounce his judgment on Wednesday on a petition that was filed against Smriti Irani for giving false information about her educational qualifications to the Election Commission when she had filed her affidavits.
The order was reserved on June 1. A freelance writer Ahmed Khan had filed the petition. K K Mannan, a senior counsel, appearing on behalf of Ahmed Khan, said two of the affidavits filed by Irani were contradictory in disclosing her qualifications.
