New Delhi: The Congress party on Tuesday said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should end his infamous antics and tactics of diverting the attention of people from the principle area of governance.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, who was commenting on Kejriwal's move to seek public support stating that the AAP was short of funds, said the latter must work towards fulfilling the responsibility that has been given by the people rather than finding excuses on a daily basis.

"We also feel that the collection of money in this fashion by a sitting Chief Minister or a Prime Minister for that matter, no Prime Minister, Chief Minister, no elected personnel who is holding a constitutional office in India has ever appealed for the collection of money for his party rather than the government," said Surjewala.

"I think it is a great insult to the constitutional office he holds. It is neither correct nor fair nor appropriate. Arvind Kejriwal should give a full account of crores of rupees that his party head collected, to the people of Delhi and also to the people of India first before proceeding on such a misadventure that he is proceeding on," he added.

Kejriwal earlier told ANI that the AAP was a clean party and that is why, instead of acquiring money the 'wrong way', he is asking the people of the country.

"The public funded us, we never took any money under the table. We gave a record of every rupee we got," he said.
