New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday criticised Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for appointing his party colleague Swati Maliwal as the DCW chief and said that the AAP boss does not practice what he preaches.

"The way Kejriwal used to say that he is here to stop politics in administration, the way he used to target Barkha Singh for being a political appointee, it would have been better if some non-political woman activist was made the chief instead of someone from his own party. That would have proved that he practices what he preaches," BJP leader R.P. Singh said.

Maliwal, who is currently Advisor (Grievances) to Kejriwal, would be replacing Barkha Shukla.

Maliwal, 30, is an RTI activist and the youngest member of India Against Corruption. She is married to senior AAP functionary Naveen Jaihind.

The tenure of incumbent Barkha Shukla ends this week.
