Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday strongly claimed that nobody in the opposition has been able to point out the law breached by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj with regard to facilitating the release of travel documents related to former IPL czar Lalit Modi.

"Yesterday, the opposition wanted a discussion on the issue. We immediately conceded to the demand. But they changed their stance. An investigation happens when there is breach of legal provision, but when we asked the opposition about this, they had no answer," Jaitley told the media here.

"Today Sushma ji gave an elaborate reasoning in the all party meeting and the whole party wants her to give that reasoning to the Parliament. But the opposition is weak on arguments and strong on disturbances. Nobody (opposition) has been able to point out which is the law that the EAM has breached," he added.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said it was unfortunate that an obstructive opposition is preventing a willing Sushma Swaraj from giving a statement in the House on the 'baseless' allegations levelled against her.

"It is very unfortunate that even though Sushma ji wants to make her statement, she is not being allowed to. Sushma ji has requested that she wants to give her statement on the baseless allegations on her," Rajnath told the media here.

Following the logjam, both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned. The Rajya Sabha could function for just eight minutes, after reconvening at 12:30 pm for a third time.

The opposition has been demanding that Sushma and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje should be sacked for allegedly helping Lalit Modi.
