New Delhi: Rejecting the government's defence over the Lalit Modi issue, Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and PM Narendra Modi, whom he dared to bring the former IPL commissioner back to India for cleansing cricket.

Countering Swaraj's allegations against his father Rajiv Gandhi, the Congress Vice President said that the late prime minister's name been cleared by the judicial system of the country even as he alleged that she and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had defended "black money network" in Parliament.

The Congress leader also asserted that his party would keep up pressure on the issue and took a jibe at Narendra Modi saying that he "gets scared".

"I tell this to Modi-ji that he has an opportunity. Bring back Lalit Modi and clean up cricket. India is giving you (prime minister) a chance. You still have the credibility," he said. Gandhi also remarked, "Many people think Modi-ji has guts, some people say he doesn't. If you don't bring back Lalit Modi, if you continue to allow these people to defend Lalit Modi the way Sushma-ji did... We have understood that this PM gets scared. Will be tough to meet GST deadline of April 2016, but we are determined to try and roll out GST," says Arun Jaitley. GST Bill aims at boosting economic growth. It creates a national sales tax that would subsume a complicated network of central and state levies, a chaotic structure that inflates costs. Supporters say GST will add up to two percentage points to economic growth and boost domestic trade while creating a unified national market.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph newspaper carried a photo of Rahul Gandhi's cheat-sheet and the scribbles in English. Some phrases were word-for-word what the Congress leader said in the Lok Sabha, for example: "Log PM Modi ko sunna chahte hai. Who unki rai janna chhate hai..." Jaitley "People who read from a written script are often repetitive."

What drew many comments on social media was the fact that Gandhi jotted down his Hindi phrases in English, and that he even made a note of his reference to the "three monkeys of Gandhi."

Rahul has faced similar ribbing on twitter when he was photographed referring to his phone while writing a condolence message for Nepal earthquake victims.
