OROP Row: Congress Take Advantage Of Situation To Slam BJP. Congress leader and former Minister of State for Home R.P.N. Singh, lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday

New Delhi: Congress leader and former Minister of State for Home R.P.N. Singh, lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday, for making false promises of passing the One Rank One Pension scheme on completing 100 days in power.

"In the Rewari rally, Modi promised ex-servicemen that if his government formed, he will implement the One Rank One Pension scheme in 100 days. What happened?" Singh asked.

"He (Modi) went to Siachen last Diwali and promised OROP. The next Diwali is to come," he added asking the Modi Government to pay heed to the ongoing hunger-strike by ex-servicemen.

One Rank, One Pension (OROP) scheme has been a long-standing demand of nearly three-million ex-servicemen and war widows in the country. It seeks to ensure that a uniform pension is paid to defence personnel, who retire at the same rank with the same length of service irrespective of their date of retirement.
