Intolerance In India On The Rise, Cries Congress. Congress Member of Parliament Deepender Hooda on Monday condemned the ink attack on Sudheendra Kulkarni by the Shiv Sena.

New Delhi: Congress Member of Parliament Deepender Hooda on Monday condemned the ink attack on Sudheendra Kulkarni by the Shiv Sena, and asked both the Maharashtra Government and the central Government to answer in which direction was the nation heading.

"Sudheendra Kulkarni is a great intellectual and patriot, and this attack on him is very deplorable," he said.

"The attack on Sudheendra Kulkarni by Shiv Sena and Eminent writers returning awards to sahitya Akademi points to circumstances which are leading to intolerance in the society with shrinking space for freedom of speech and expression which has been provided to all the citizens," Hooda said here.

He also said that these matters are extremely serious and needs introspection.

The Shiv Sena has been vehemently protesting against Kasuri's book launch, saying it was an insult to the Indian soldiers who had died in the recent ceasefire violations by Pakistan. The Shiv Sena has warned that there would be repercussions if the event was not cancelled.
