On the 1st anniversary of the Swach Bharat Abhiyan, Prime Minister Modi presented Pune-based Mailhem Ikos, a 20-year old firm specializing in decentralized waste to energy solutions, with the Garbage Guru award at the Safaigiri Awards. The Prime Minister emphasized the concept of Waste to Wealth and urged citizens to make the Swach Bharat Abhiyan a people’s movement.

On the 1st anniversary of the Swach Bharat Abhiyan, Prime Minister Modi presented Pune-based Mailhem Ikos, a 20-year old firm specializing in decentralized waste to energy solutions, with the Garbage Guru award at the Safaigiri Awards. The Prime Minister emphasized the concept of Waste to Wealth and urged citizens to make the Swach Bharat Abhiyan a people’s movement.

Headed by Colonel (retd.) Suresh Rege and his son Sameer Rege, Mailhem Ikos has set up more than 300 plants across the country with many more in the pipeline. Speaking on the award, Colonel Rege said, “ This is a prestigious platform, and it is humbling experience for us to be recognized, more so by the Prime Minister of our country. Over the last two decades, we have worked hard to advocate the message of waste to wealth, and this recognition fuels this fire even further.”
Mailhem, along with the JV French Partner Lhotellier Ikos Group, is currently in the process of setting up large size waste to energy plants and carrying out the capping of dumpsites and landfills.
The jury, which selected the winners, comprised of a prestige list of names such as Aroon Purie; Infosys Co-founder N. R. Narayanamurthy; Actor Vidya Balan; Writer Chetan Bhagat; Rajya Sabha member Rajeev Chandrasekhar; Feedback Infra chairman Vinayak Chatterjee, and Sulabh International Founder Bindeshwar Pathak.
