New Delhi: In a bid to spur up the regional air travel infrastructure, the Union government is mulling to impose a 2 per cent flight tax on most domestic and international airline tickets.

According to civil aviation secretary RN Choubey, the proposed tax may raise about Rs 1,500 crore, which will be used toward reopening hundreds of disused airstrips,

building ‘no-frills airport’ besides providing finance to airlines to help keep prices on regional routes stable. He released the draft aviation policy on Friday.
