Srinagar: Life in Srinagar was back to normal on Thursday, a day after a protest shutdown and imposition of official restrictions in the city.

Educational institutions, public transport, shops and other businesses opened as authorities withdrew security forces from traffic crossings and other sensitive areas.

The old city areas of Srinagar - where life was hit due to restrictions and spontaneous protests in the last seven days - was also normal.

Schools filled up again on Thursday morning. Shops attracted customers while banks, post offices and government offices were open too.

Authorities imposed restrictions in Srinagar on Wednesday to foil a march called by separatists against the death of Gowhar Ahmad Dar, 22, in clashes with security forces on November 7 in Srinagar.

Restrictions were imposed in areas under the jurisdiction of eight police stations in Srinagar to foil the protest march.
