Chennai: Rains resumed here late on Tuesday after a two-day respite, adding to woes of the people hit by floods and torrential rains for a week.
The Met Office has predicted heavy showers till December 11. According to weather office, there might be heavy rains in coastal Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, due to low pressure formed around the Bay of Bengal.
The Southern Railway has cancelled several long distance trains in Chennai, officials said. According to officials, schools and colleges on Wednesday remained closed in eight districts of Tamil Nadu. The civic bodies are working hard to ensure a check on any epidemic outbreak here.
