Nepal Sadbhavana Party (NSP) president Mahato has sustained injuries in his head and legs. He was rushed to a nearby hospital.

On Saturday, Mahato and other Madhesi protesters entered Nepal from India and tried to stage a sit-in on no man's land.

According to reports, some of the protestors started pelting stones when the police asked them to shift their demonstration elsewhere.

As a result, police lathi-charged and in the clash, Mahato got injured.

The new constitution splits the plains into several provinces contrary to the Madhesi parties' demand for only two provinces in the Terai.

The government had tabled a Constitution Amendment Bill with a view to taking the dissident parties into confidence.
