Bollywood actor Rajesh Vivek known for his roles in super hits like ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Swades’ passed away due to heart attack in Hyderabad on Thursday. He was 66.

Hyderabad: Bollywood actor Rajesh Vivek known for his roles in super hits like ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Swades’ passed away due to heart attack in Hyderabad on Thursday. He was 66.

“Rajesh passed away in Hyderabad due to a heart attack. He was shooting there for a south film. It is very shocking news,” said Vivek’s friend Vishnu Sharma.

Basically a theatre actor, he had also acted in popular television series ‘Mahabharata’, ‘Bharat Ek Khoj’ and ‘Aghori’. An alumnus of the National School of Drama, he made his film debut with filmmaker Shyam Benegal's National Award-winning film ‘Junoon’ in 1978.

Some of his latest films include ‘Bunty Aur Babli’, ‘Bhoot Unkle’, ‘What’s Your Rashee’, ‘Agneepath’, ‘Son of Sardaar’ and ‘Dishkiyaaun’. He had played the role of a dreaded dacoit in ‘Bandit Queen’. He made his Telugu debut with Nani-starrer ‘Yevade Subramanyam’ last year.

The last rites of the actor were conducted on Friday in Mumbai, in presence of his family, friends, and several film personalities like filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar, actors including Akhilendra Mishra, Daya Shankar Pandey, Amin Hajee and Raj Zutshi.
