Srinagar : The People's Democratic Party (PDP) is likely to form a government in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu & Kashmir. The significant development came during the crucial meeting of the PDP on Sunday, which ended around 6.40 pm.

Sources said the PDP is likely to go ahead with their alliance with the BJP after the members reportedly praised NDA's effort in fostering better relations with Pakistan despite the Pathankot terror attack. The meeting was presided over by PDP president Mehbooba Mufti where it was discussed whether they will continued their alliance with the BJP or not in forming the government.

After the death of chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 7, there was an uncertainty over the continuation of PDP-BJP alliance in Jammu amd Kashmir. The case was registered on a complaint by Rajasekhar, Air India's station manager at the airport.

Presently the state is under Governor's rule. Senior PDP leader Naeem Akhtar said, "We discussed the performance of the PDP-BJP alliance when Mufti Sahib headed the coalition government. The final call over government formation will be taken by Mehbooba ji, there is no timeline."
