Ahead of the Republic Day, Delhi Police on Sunday issued a traffic advisory asking people to avoid roads leading to Rajpath in the morning hours on January 26 as it would remain restricted for vehicular movement.

The parade will start at around 9:50 AM from Vijay Chowk and end at the Red Fort.

"No vehicle will be allowed to ply from Vijay Chowk to India Gate on Rajpath after 3 PM on Sunday till the closure of Republic Day function. C-Hexagon of India Gate will be closed for traffic from 2 AM till parade crosses Tilak Marg.

"No traffic will be allowed at the three crossings on Rajpath from 11 PM on Monday till the parade is over. Traffic on Tilak Marg will not be allowed from 10 AM on January 26 on both directions," the advisory said.

However, the cross traffic en route of the parade at Dr Dinesh Nandini Dalmia Chowk, RC Aggarwal Chowk (A Point), near ITO, Delhi Gate and beyond will be allowed depending upon the progress of the parade.

Several roads such as Kautilya Marg, Aurangzeb Road (now Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road), Subramaniam Bharti Marg, Mathura Road, Bhagwan Dass Road, Feroze Road, Ashoka Road, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent and Sardar Patel Marg will be restricted.

"Only labelled vehicles of the invitees and vehicles of bonafide residents of this area shall be permitted from 6 AM to enter till conclusion of the parade at about 12:30 PM on Tuesday," Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sharad Agarwal said.

The advisory has also specified that invitees and other spectators must acquaint themselves with the location of their seating enclosures and the parking lots.

As part of security arrangements, Delhi Metro services will be partially curtailed on January 26 under which four stations in the vicinity of Rajpath -- Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Patel Chowk and Race Course -- will be closed in the morning hours.

Besides, all metro parking lots will also remain closed from 6 AM on January 25 till 2 PM on January 26.

"Entry and exit at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan stations will remain closed from 6 AM to 12 PM. Patel Chowk and Race Course metro stations' entry and exit will remain closed from 8:45 AM to 12 PM," a DMRC statement said.

Central Secretariat station will only be used for interchange of passengers between Line 2 (Yellow Line) and Line 6 (Violet Line) during that period.

"There would be elaborate traffic arrangements to facilitate the movement of VIP vehicles, invitees and general public to reach the place of function and also to ensure safe and smooth flow of traffic in other parts of the city during the parade," Agarwal said.
