Guwahati: Samajwadi Party (SP) headed by Mulayam Singh Yadav will contest 37 seats in Assam assembly poll which will be held on April 4 and April 11 in two phases.

SP’s Assam unit president Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhury said that the party had decided to contest 11 constituencies in first phase and 26 constituencies in second phase of assembly poll in the state.

SP has announced candidates list for six constituencies for first phase and the candidates are – Samir Uddin Laskar (Hailakandi), Jamal Uddin Laskar (Katlichera), Sahidul Islam Laskar (Algapur), Sahin Ahmed Choudhury (Silchar), Aparna Tewari (Udharband) and Haji Alauddin Choudhury (Katigorah).

“Name of candidates for other constituencies for first and second phase will be announced after approval by the party,” Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhury said.
