Guwahati: At least 14 people were killed and around 1 lakh people are affected in fresh flood following incessant rains in few days in Assam.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority reports, 92,729 people of 255 villages in six districts of the state are affected in pre-monsoon flood.

At least eight persons were washed away at Jatinga river in Barak valley district Cachar on Sunday.

On the other hand two people one each in Cachar and Dibrugarh district are still missing after they drowned in flood waters.

Flood waters submerged 4905.49 hectare crop land in Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Sivsagar, Tinsukia, Charaideo, Cachar district.

Over 7,500 people had taken shelter in 40 relief camps which set up by district administration.

On the other, the water level of Brahmaputra river and its tributaries have crossed danger level mark in few areas following torrential rains in the state.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had ordered to the officials of the state government to take necessary steps to tackle the present flood situation.
