Today is the last day of campaigning for the sixth phase of assembly elections in West Bengal.25 assembly seats including 16 in Purba Medinipur and nine in Coochbehar districts will go to polls under the final phase on Thursday.

Top leaders of various parties campaigned in Coochbehar including Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders Mamata Banerjee and Mukul Roy, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Shahnawaz Hussain and CPI-M MP Mohammad Salim.

In all, 67 candidates are in the fray for nine seats in Coochbehar, 12 of them independents. In Purba Medinipur, a total of 103 candidates are fighting for 16 assembly seats, with 12 of these as independents.

Until now, the five rounds of the ongoing elections for the 294-seat West Bengal Assembly have been completed in six polling days.

A total of 78.25 percent turnout recorded in the fifth phase of the elections for 53 seats spread over 24 Parganas Dakshin, Hooghly and Kolkata Dakshin districts on Saturday.

The counting of all the constituencies will be held on May 19.
