U'khand crisis: BJP, Congress exude confidence ahead of crucial floor test
Asserting that the Congress has lost its existence in Uttarakhand the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday asserted that the grand old party was not capable of proving majority during the crucial test floor today when it could not even pass its budget bill.

"We don't understand the government which has even lost its existence in the state, it couldn't pass its budget bill, Why should they prove the majority. If they were in majority then they could have passed the bill," said BJP leader Ramesh Pohriyal.
"The Congress lost the majority, and by not cooperating they are stalling the growth of the state," he added.
Meanwhile, former Uttarakhand speaker and Congress leader Indira Hridyesh exuded confidence and said that her party will prove the majority and come back in to power in the state which has been reeling under political crisis since past two months.
"We are in absolute majority and it will be proved during the floor test," said Hridyesh.
A floor test will be held in the Uttarakhand Assembly today to ascertain whether ousted Congress chief minister Harish Rawat still enjoys a majority in the House.
During the two-hour-long special session from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the President's rule will be kept in abeyance for a single agenda of vote of confidence.
The proceedings will be video-graphed and the result of the voting will be placed before the Supreme Court tomorrow in a sealed cover.
The Uttarakhand Assembly has 70 members, out of which 27 belongs to the Congress, excluding the nine rebels. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has 28 members, while there are six from other parties.
Ousted chief minister Harish Rawat will need at least 32 members for claiming his majority on the floor.
The rebel MLAs will not be allowed to participate in the floor test. The Supreme Court rejected their pleas yesterday after they moved the apex court against the Uttarakhand High Court's decision dismissing their petition against the disqualification.
The apex court also said the voting will be overseen by Principal Secretary (Legislative Assembly and Parliamentary Affairs) in the state.
