Imphal (Manipur) : Yet another Manipuri has made the state proud as he cleared the UPSC Civil Services exam after Diana Khumanthem who was ranked 24 in India.

S.Askar Ali was ranked 167th in the 2015 national civil services exam. He had aspired for a slot after becoming the First Meitei Pangal (Manipuri Muslim) as well as the first only Graduate IAS officer from the state.

Askar Ali who cleared the 2013 Prelim exam conducted by the UPSC, failed to clear the Main Exam was determined to crack the coveted Civil Service Exam by any cost. He have achieved an almost improbable feat of cracking the demanding civil services test on his second attempt of 2015 UPSC Exam by dropping for one year.

Askar Ali is a graduate from the Hindu College, under Delhi University in Physics Honour. His childhood determination to become an IAS officer have made him to leave his higher studies after completion of Graduation and went on joining Coaching Classes as a preparation to crack the Civil Services Examination.

From a very remote village in Thoubal district, Askar has started his student's career by securing the top lists in every qualifying exams.

Hailing from a poor family, born to Md. Ahmad Ali a peon at the Horticulture Department, Ali is the second son of the five siblings, had a very tough time in pursuing his academic careers.

Hardly to manage the expenses of the family with the petty income and Askar Ali's expenditure, his mother use to work physically in the village door to door even sell her kitchen garden products at the market for earning money for maintaining the expenses.

Notwithstanding the quality of education from his locality school, Mehmood English High School, he shifted his school at Standard Robert in Class VI and not satisfied shifted to Catholic High School, Canchipur and passed his HSLC Examination securing 9th position conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur.

Askar Ali was provided scholarship by the School Authority, to bear each and every expenditure in his studies and free hostel including fooding and lodging till he completes his XIIth Exam.
