Assam Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya on Sunday had invited BJP, AGP and BPF to form the next government in Assam  after the three partners staked their claim.

Assam Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya on Sunday had invited BJP, AGP and BPF to form the next government in Assam after the three partners staked their claim.

Sarbananda Sonowal, the leader of BJP’s legislature party, AGP president Atul Bora, BPF president Hagrama Mahilary and MLA’s of the parties meet the Assam Governor and staked their claim to form the next government.

“After the claim of BJP, AGP and BPF, the Assam Governor had invited the parties to form the next government in the state,” an official of Raj Bhawan said.

BJP alliance had captured 86 seats including 60 seats by BJP in the 126 members Assam assembly.

Earlier, on Sunday, Sarbananda Sonowal was unanimously elected as the leader of BJP legislature party.

The oath taking ceremony is scheduled on May 24 at Khanapara, Guwahati in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah, Chief Ministers of BJP-led states, Yoga guru Ramdev, spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
