Activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike here on Monday staged a protest demanding to keep pressure on the Central government to declare Kalaburagi as a smart city. Protesters in front of the Collectorate came with their beds and slept on the road demanding to fulfil their demands.

​Kalaburagi: Activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike here on Monday staged a protest demanding to keep pressure on the Central government to declare Kalaburagi as a smart city. Protesters in front of the Collectorate came with their beds and slept on the road demanding to fulfil their demands.

North Karnataka president of the Vedike, Sharanu Gadduge said, “The process on the selection of smart cities for 2016-17 will begin soon. The government should act on the issue by keeping pressure on the Central government.”

Gadduge said that if leaders of the region fail to do so, they should resign from their post. He alleged that the development works in the districts were stopped and said that there was a need to think seriously and keep development works.

A letter written to the Governor was submitted to the District Collector. Gopal Natikar, Manohar, Santosh, Sampat, Maruti Kammar,Vijay, Shambhu and others participated.
