Expressing his shock and sadness over the terror killing of innocent civilians in Orlando on Sunday, President Pranab Mukherjee, who is currently on a state visit to Ghana, said, |India condemns terrorism in all of its forms and manifestations. We believe that there can be no justification for such senseless acts of violence, and that all disputes and differences must be resolved through peaceful means.

The President further said that the Orlando terror strike was yet another grim reminder that the "world must come together to address comprehensively and urgently the scourge of terrorism, its perpetrators and also those who support or habour them."

The president's statement came hours after an American-born man, pledging allegiance to ISIS, gunned down 50 people early Sunday at a gay nightclub in Orlando.

It was the deadliest mass shooting in the United States and the nation's worst terror attack since 9/11, law enforcement authorities said.

The gunman, Omar Mateen, 29, a resident of Fort Pierce, Florida, reportedly called 911 shortly before the attack to pledge allegiance to ISIS and mentioned the Boston Marathon bombers.

Mateen carried an assault rifle and a pistol into the packed Pulse club about 2 a.m. Friday and started shooting, killing 50 people and wounding at least 53, police said.

Orlando police shot and killed Mateen. (ANI)
