Microsoft has been selected as the technical partner for HRD Ministry’s SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) platform, which is going to launch 2,000 massive open online courses for about three crore students. 

New Delhi: Microsoft has been selected as the technical partner for HRD Ministry’s SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) platform, which is going to launch 2,000 massive open online courses for about three crore students.

Official sources conveyed that, technology giants will be deploying the team of professionals to set up the state of the art application for which Microsoft and All India Council of Technical Education has signed a deal of Rs 38 Crore. As per officials, Microsoft will run the App for three years, after that AICTE will takeover.

In the meantime, UGC (Credit Framework for Online Learning Courses through SWAYAM) regulation, 2016 has been made final. Online Courses will be available on SAWAYAM platform by partner institution identified by the national coordinator.

The registrars of all the institution will be list of online courses that are to be covered in each semester by them. All the physical facilities like laboratories, library and computer facilities will be free for parent institution.

The candidates studying in Jharkhand can enrol for course in IIT Bombay and all the predicted credits earned will be transferred to the candidate’s mark sheet.

This will bring a major change in the education system of the country and it will become smooth process for candidates taking admission in different courses.
