Missing on a Weekend, an investigative thriller based on the crime scenes of Goa was slated to release on 1st July. However on 27th June, producer & director Abhishek Jawakar announced to postpone the release of the film to a later date. The delay is attributed to the film not having received it's mandatory CBFC certification. " We had submitted the film to the CBFC on 17th June and we are yet to hear from them.Generally the entire process is wrapped in a week's time" says Abhishek.

On the other hand, on 25th June Abhishek had received a call from Goa Tourism accusing him of portraying Goa in a bad light. Displeasure was also expressed about the release of the movie.

Speculation is rife if this is the reason for the delayed certification. Whatever the reason, the movie definitely will not see the light of day on 1st July.

“If the movie gets rejected by CBFC, we are ready with a plan to challenge the decision”, says Abhishek.

Another twist in the tale came on Tuesday evening, when CBFC finally gives a nod to the film but with more than 50 odd cuts.
" Yes we have finally received CBFC clearance but they have asked for a lot of cuts." clarifies Abhishek

When probed further, Abhishek signs off saying " We haven't accepted the decisions in totality, some cuts are acceptable but some are illogical".

The question now arises if this decision is challenged, where will this head? Will it get as lucky as Udta Punjab or will Missing on a Weekend set another benchmark?
