New Delhi: The BJP Delhi unit on Tuesday accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of acting as "Pakistan's spokesperson" and held a protest outside his official residence here to press for his resignation.

Hundreds of protesters, led by Bharatiya Janata Party Delhi unit chief Satish Upadhyay and Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta, raised slogans against the Chief Minister outside his Civil Lines residence.

Activists of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and the minority cell also joined in the protest.

They shouted: "Jo Hafiz Saeed ka yaar hai, desh ka gaddar hai (friends of Hafiz Saeed are traitors)." Hafiz Muhammad Saeed is a co-founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba and chief of now-banned Jamaat-ud-Daawa.

The Delhi Police later used mild force to disperse the protesters.

On Monday, Kejriwal hailed Modi for taking strict action against Pakistan and urged him to "expose the false propaganda" being spread by Islamabad.

In a short video message, the AAP leader focused on Pakistan's claims that no surgical strikes were ever conducted on terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control. He had urged Modi to fight Pakistan's propaganda "just like we have been fighting Pakistan on ground".

The Congress had said that by retweeting Pakistan's false propaganda, the AAP leader had actually given credence and publicity to Islamabad's point of view that no surgical strikes ever happened.

"He is talking like a spokesperson of Pakistan and speaking in Saeed's language. He is also demoralising the military of India," Upadhyay told reporters.

"The (Indian) Director General of Military Operations held a press conference to announce the surgical strikes. He (Kejriwal) is raising questions on the sovereignty and integrity of the nation, which doesn't behove of a person in his position," Upadhyay said.

"He should feel ashamed and resign," the BJP leader added.

Upadhyay said the BJP will intensify its protest against Kejriwal.

The Indian army on September 28 night carried out surgical strikes across the LoC and destroyed seven terror launch pads.

The strikes followed a terror attack on an army camp in Uri town of Kashmir on September 18, in which 19 soldiers were killed.
