Rayapati offers kidney to ailing Sushma Swaraj
Following the news that a cop in Madhya Pradesh offered his kidney to the ailing Union Minister, Sushma Swaraj, who is undergoing treatment in All India Institute of Medical Sciences, TDP MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, followed suit.
New Delhi: Following the news that a cop in Madhya Pradesh offered his kidney to the ailing Union Minister, Sushma Swaraj, who is undergoing treatment in All India Institute of Medical Sciences, TDP MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, followed suit. In a letter addressed to Sushma Swaraj, Rayapati Sambasiva Rao said that he was very sorry to hear about her health problems and her renal failure ssue.
He further stated that he was ready to donate his kidney to her for transplant. “Ï shall be very grateful if you could kindly accept my offer of my kidney," he stated in the letter on Friday. Sushma Swaraj herself tweeted about her ailment and the renal failure. She tweeted on Wednesday that she was at AIIMS because of renal failure and undergoing tests for kidney transplant. A traffic constable on Thursday offered to donate one of his kidneys to the External Affairs Minister.
"I came to know about her health through newspapers. If my blood group matches, I'm ready to give my kidney to Sushmaji. I have also made an offer through Twitter," constable Gaurav Dangi said. "Sushmaji is a good leader and we need her to be well and that is why I offered my kidney," Dangi said. The traffic constable also said it was his personal call and added that he did not have any political links. Dangi is said to be all of 23 while Sambasiva Rao is 73 years of age.
Sources at the hospital disclosed that Dangi was asked to undergo tests at AIIMS following his willingness. Though the TDP MP is reportedly the first one to make such an offer, it was frowned upon by the party office as it could send wrong signals as Sambasiva Rao is into business (contracts) primarily.
