Chennai: Political volatility in Tamil Nadu persists on Friday as interim Chief Minister O Paneerselvam and ruling AIADMK general secretary V K Sasikala continue their bitter power struggle to take over the reins of the state.

There's a new twist to the drama on Friday. Party presidium chairman E Madhusudanan, who was earlier in the day expelled by Sasikala, hit back at the general secretary in the evening. Sasikala appointed former minister K A Sengottaiyan in the place of Madhusudanan.

Madhusudanan claimed that he had sacked Sasikala before she expelled him from the AIADMK. Madhusudanan also wrote to the Election Commission not to recognise Sasikala as AIADMK general secretary.

Meanwhile, M K Stalin, leader of Opposition and working president of DMK met the Governor, briefed him about the political situation in the state and submitted a letter to him.

“There is a constitutional vacuum now in the state, in which even the Chief Minister has been relegated to the side, only because of the infighting happening in the party,” said Stalin in his letter.
