This refers to your editorial "Need for restraint" (18th Feb). As patriotic Indians, we have the highest regard for our soldiers who are dealing with anti-national forces, not only in J&K and even elsewhere.

However, with the proliferation of TV news channels, high ranking generals seem to be using the media to get the attention of those who are in power to make sure some post retirement place.

There is a classic example of General V K Singh who made his entry using IAC forum got into BJP and changed his khaki into khadi uniform. A good general never speaks but acts to deal with ground-level situation.

He cannot speak before the media the way our netas speak. The netas only hijack Army's action to play politics whether they are ruling or in opposition. As a matter of fact, General Bipin Rawat should set an example of not appearing before the media to avoid the situation of jawans starting to appear in TV channels to air their grievances.

Indian Army had very great and courageous generals whose actions spoke much louder than their words, and hope the present generation will follow them instead of following our present-day netas.
