Mumbai: Shiv Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe today expressed concern over incidents of threats and lewd messages being sent to woman politicians and activists. She had last month complained to Mumbai police after she received a threat call. The caller had abused her in a dirty language and threatened to kill her, she said.
"I suspect that the persons involved in sending such messages must be having some links with influential people," Gorhe, a member of Maharashtra Legislative Council, told reporters here. "I also wonder at the timing of the messages being sent to legislators as there must be something else, more disturbing," she said.
The Shiv Sena leader demanded strict action against those found guilty in such offences. She was apparently referring to a complaint recently filed with police by Mumbai-based BJP functionary Shaina NC who received lewd messages. Congress MLA Varsha Gaikwad also allegedly received lewd messages recently on her mobile phone and registered a case with police in Mumbai.
