NEW DELHI: A homeless 50 years old woman gets crushed under a Jeep Compass car near Baba Kharak Singh Marg and dragged for almost 500 meters till the police stopped it at a barricade.The driver was a 20 year old lady was on a joyride with her friends.

The incident took place on Sunday around 8:30 pm when phoolwati was crossing the road opposite PVR Rivoli. Eyewitness said the car came towards her at high speed from Hanuman Temple lane and hit her. The lady driver stopped stopped for a while, but then took off again at high speed to the left, towards Shaheed Bhagat singh Marg.

Rakesh Kumar a florist saw the incident “We chased the car on a bike and signalled the driver to stop as the woman’s body was stuck under the rear wheels. She ignored and drove on. A police patrol squad noticed our chase and joined us,” kumar said.

The woman driver was identified as Shreya Agarwal took a wrong turn near Sandoz restaurant in a bid to flee towards Connaught Place when police pickets ahead on the stretch were alerted. They blocked the road to stop the car.

She was accompanied by her friends Baby, Megha and Rani. Shreya Agarwal was pursuing a course in Fashion designing from Mumbai college and was home.she insisted to drive.she tried to flee when the police forced to stop the car but was caught.she even tried to reason with the policemen.

Agarwal was found that though she had licence she was raw at driving.The vehicle was found to be registered in the name of a transport carrier owned by her father .Phoolwati was taken care by her 18 year old son who works as a cleaner with a private firm and a daughter.she begged at traffic signals and did odd jobs at eateries.She stayed at a shack near the Hanuman temple.
