BENGALURU: Furious that the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has disappointed to achieve the zero-pothole target, the Karnataka high court on Tuesday warned the civic body that a manageable agency may be entrusted with the work.
“If BBMP doesn’t work, Bengaluru can’t be closed down. It is the BBMP that has to be shut down. If you don’t want to work, a responsible agency may be entrusted with the work. But that’d come at a heavy price,” a division bench headed by Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari said.
The high court said the result showed the Palike’s ineptitude, as it had no methodology in place and everything was uncertain.“If BBMP officials think the court won’t look into work-related aspects, it’d be a misconception,” the bench added. The high court was livid over the civic body’s failure to utilize the 34-day period since the previous hearing to fix potholes in the city.
