Venkatesh had allegedly mentioned the role of Nath during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The role of the political leader had been documented. “Winning an election is just the beginning of a journey. What it means is that we, the people, have entrusted you to put your best foot forward for us. And we are going to be watching your actions sharply and evaluate you. The Indian National Congress cannot fail the very first test it has been given in the journey that began a couple of days ago. By making Kamal Nath the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh you are disrespecting every vote that came to you. These votes were against the politics of hatred and against the climate of ‘othering’,” the petition mentioned.
