BENGALURU: Soumyajit Chatterjee (29), a techie working with a private firm from the city has alleged that he was harassed by a group of transgender people at the bus stop near St John’s Hospital.

Soumyajit alleged that, he was waiting near the bus stop at around 7.30 PM on February 11, when three transgender people walked towards him and demanded money. As Soumyajit took out a Rs 10 note, the group got furious and snatched his wallet. The wallet contained about Rs 1,900, which they took He also alleged that when he objected to this and demanded his money back, they suddenly lifted up their clothes and harassed him.

Later, Soumajit dialed 100 and the police officials at the Koramangala police station, told him they would look for the transgender people during patrolling and also advised him to file a complaint.

“This was the most humiliating experience for me. I never expected such an harassment at a public place. If they were not happy with the money that I gave them, they could have refused to take it. But snatching the wallet and forcibly taking out all the money is stealing. I was advised by the officials to file a complaint at the police station. But after the incident, I got busy with work. I tried to file the complaint online, but there was no a proper process to file it,” Soumyajit told a source.
