Prof Jayashankar remembered on his 81st birth anniversary, The only person who needs no introduction and the ideologue of Telangana movement is Kothapalli Jayashankar popularly known as Professor Jayashankar.
The only person who needs no introduction and the ideologue of Telangana movement is Kothapalli Jayashankar popularly known as Professor Jayashankar. He was born on the same day in 1934. Prof Jayashankar had fought for a separate state since 1952. He often stated that unequal distribution of river water was the root cause of separate Telangana movement.
He served in many coveted positions of academics and served as the vice chancellor of Kakatiya University as well. Prof Jayashankar obtained a double master degree in Economics from both Banaras Hindu University and Aligarh Muslim University and obtained PhD from Osmania University.
As a young student of intermediate, Prof Jayashankar had walked out of his class in protest against state reorganization in 1952. He also participated in Mulkhi Agitation in 1952. Later, as a student leader, he campaigned for the region and joined the movement for a separate Telangana state.
Prof Jayashanker who is known as the original Telangana ideologue, participated in the revitalized agitation in 1968 when he was working as a lecturer. It should not sound an exaggeration, if someone says it is because of him the Telangana people got educated about their rights. Prof Jayashankar led several agitations since 1962, transforming into a mass movement after 1969 agitation.
He was associated with the Telangana movement for the entire time until he breathed his last on June 21, 2011. Prof. Jayashanakar always believed that Telangana can only be achieved through the political process, at the same time he stood in support to many agitations run by all non-political organizations. He spent the whole of his life for the cause of Telangana. Unfortunately, Sir was not there to enjoy the splendid moments he aspired for the entire life.
Great people like Prof Jayashankar are eternal and they always remain in the hearts of people. Yes, he is always there in the hearts of the entire people of Telangana state. Sir, you are remembered on your day!!
