Babasaheb Ambedkar, principal architect of Indian Constitution, suggested reservations for backward classes so that they could be provided all facilities enabling them to compete with other sections of the society.
Many remember this, but even the staunch followers of Babasaheb conveniently forget that Ambedkar suggested reservation only for a decade.
However, decades have passed by and reservation continues not only for original backward sections but also for those who produce fake certificates.
Surprisingly, many compete to get backward class certificates so that they can avail the benefits of reservations. However one wonders if reservations help the backward sections realise Ambedkar's dream.
Answer is No. Dr Ambedkar hoped that reservations not only help in the development of backward classes, but also the nation. However, his objective has failed miserably to say the least.
This shows that Ambedkar was not wrong in his dreams, but it is the people of this country who want to remain branded as backward, and doesn't want to come out of it. More shockingly real definition of backwardness has changed.
A person however rich, if is born in the backward class can enjoy the benefits though he amasses millions and billions and at the same time a person born in the so called developed communities and is suffering from extreme poverty will be deprived of any benefits.
All like minded people should think is this is what Ambedkar, father of Indian constitution wanted. Everyone should dream to develop and erase the name backwardness and backward class from the society in India.
