Uber ban is knee jerk reaction

Right after a cab driver raped young female executive in the country's capital, Union Government within hours acted tough and banned the services of Uber Cabs and other mobile services provided by various cab services.

But one wonders if a mere ban is the solution to prevent atrocities on women. Before anyone could discuss even Union cabinet ministers differed on the ban. While Home Minister Rajnath Singh directed states to ban services of cabs, Minister for Road and Surface Transport differed with him saying ban will not serve any purpose.

Many say it is a knee jerk reaction. They feel instead of government beefing up security and police vigil, banning of cabs will only deprive them of a mode of transportation. Many thunder questioning the Government whether it will go on banning police force, railways, playing of buses and autos since atrocities are rampant there also.
