It’s a common aspect with News Channels airing in discussions on the various hot topics running across the globe in competition for TRP ratings and capture viewership market.
The time slot generally slotted for these discussions is the prime time from 9 PM – 10 PM and even later. Some of the prime time shows are aired by channels – Times Now, News X, Headlines, etc. More popular among these shows are Arnab Goswami’s ‘The Newshour’ and Karan Thappar discussions.
Everyone is aware of the fact that nothing substantial will take place from these discussions and will not impact the foreign or economic policy of Government; the amount of tension or blood pressure raised during these discussions not only for the ones who are participating but also for the ones watching it is damn high.
One example is Arnab Goswami’s ‘The Newshour’ that concerns with Hindus, Minorities, Terrorism, Kashmir and whip up passion in bringing in people from two religions. All sections of media claim that their programs are to force the Government to take action against the issues, but the real fact is that the issues will not be resolved in this manner, instead only the blood pressure or heart beats are raised among the people.
