Sonia Gandhi back in action without Rahul Gandhi

As Rahul Gandhi is still in wilderness Congress President Sonia Gandhi has once again taken forefront leadership of the party leading several demonstrations and galvanized the party MPs, cadres to hit back at the BJP and NDA.

Sonia had gone into a shell-cocoon after the parliament and the later Delhi assembly debacles. Wanting Rahul Gandhi to take lead and come out to front of the party affairs, Sonia was left with no alternative to come back to action levels and head the party again as Rahul went away on a 'Sabbatical' and vacationing.

Her moves made in the last two weeks displays that Sonia still has the guts and presence of mind to deliver what is good for the congress party in spite of the humiliation and difficult situations. Though not of the Nehru-Gandhi lineage, Sonia Gandhi has during last ten years shown her high voltage political acumen.

Many congress and BJP leaders might find fault with her after the defeat, but nationally and internationally Sonia is still a star politician with US and Britain still regarding her as a power source. It may take another 2 to 23 years for the congress to bounce back to political activity. But congress has to search for a new leader, as health wise and also power center wise they need a strong replacement for Sonia Gandhi, which may not be easy.

But the search has to begin from now on as the Lady is seriously ill and Rahul does not have the resources for a political volley that will be needed in active politics as he does not seem to have inherited the political skills of either his mother or father or even Grandmother.
