Congress in aggressive poll mode, slates TRS government

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) decided to launch a series of Telangana Praja Garjana Sabhas on June 1 from Sangareddy.According to TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, the meeting will be addressed by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) vice-president Rahul Gandhi and would mark the beginning of an aggressive campaign against the failure of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government on various fronts.

The AICC vice president apart from giving a road map for the 2019 elections will also release a charge sheet on the promises made by the TRS government and how it had failed to fulfill them. When asked how the Congress proposes to go aggressive when its rank and file were not united, Uttam said it was a malicious campaign launched by TRS. Congress is a democratic party and not a family party like TRS. Some difference of opinion between leaders is bound to be there but when it comes to facing the opponents, all of them would fight cohesively.
He said the TPCC would focus on how the ruling party had failed to deliver its promises and how corruption, dictatorial attitude, arrogance of power and wrong propaganda against Opposition had become the hallmark of TRS. He said the TRS had failed to get any assistance from the Centre despite supporting the NDA government through a secret understanding. Though it claims to have waived off the farmer loans, farmer suicides have not stopped and they are unable to get fresh loans from the banks.
The government failed to ensure remunerative price to various crops like chilli and pulses and when the farmers agitated against the unfair prices they were arrested and hand cuffed. The government also threatened those who refused to part with their land under land acquisition. When Opposition stood by them, they were dubbed as anti development and many opposition leaders were arrested. He said the Congress would approach the Supreme Court against the new Land Acquisition Act of the State government and would insist only on implementation of Land Acquisition Act 2013.
The government promised jobs to unemployed youth but failed. He said the government has deliberately delayed the increase in quota for Scheduled Tribes from 6 per cent to 9 per cent. No special legislation was required to increase the quota for STs in proportionate to their population. Similarly, the SC quota was also not enhanced. He said the TRS government was misleading the Muslim community with 12 per cent quota and other promises.
