vcHyderabad: English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sunaina Singh on Monday conceded the demand of the varsity students for a judicial probe into suicide of Mudassir Kamran, a PhD student. Teachers' Front for Justice and Democracy (TFJD) of EFLU has initiated this dialogue by mediating between the VC and United Struggle Committee (USC). The USC was protesting against the administration of the University, in connection with Mudassir's suicide. The two-hour discussion concluded on a positive note. The USC decided to call off the bandh, but sought to continue their protest until the other demands were met. Meanwhile, a group of 44 faculty members from Delhi, Jamia Milia Islamia and other universities issued a statement supporting the struggle for justice for Mudassir Kamran. The USC received further support from student organisations of the University of Hyderabad (ASA, TVV and BSF). The ASA took out a rally and burnt the effigy of EFLU's VC.
