Hyderabad: On a day when Grandmaster Vidit Santosh Gujarathi shared the lead along with three others in Category ‘A’ segment, the rising sensation from Andhra Pradesh, Dhulipala Bala Chandra Prasad was in his elements yet again while holding Grandmaster Deepan Chakkravarthy in the third round of the second edition of Hyderabad International Grandmasters chess tournament at KVBR Indoor Stadium in Yousufguda here on Wednesday.
It has been a remarkable run for Prasad as he had earlier stunned Grandmaster Vishnu Prasanna and later drew Grandmaster Neelotpal Das to maintain a clean slate.
Meanwhile the fourth ever GM from the State, Lalith Babu M R settled for a draw with International Master Swayams Mishra even as IM Shyam Nikil hogged the limelight by holding top seed Ivan Popov of Russia.
GMs Vladislav Borovikov (Ukraine) and Azer Mirzoev of Azerbaijan along with International Master Mikhail Mozharov of Russia are the others in joint lead.
