Indore: Telangana State’s hugely gifted paddler Varuni Jaiswal earned the State impressive laurels while winning the junior girl’s singles gold medal in the ITTF-2016 India Junior and Cadet Open Table Tennis Championships here on Sunday. She systematically went about accomplishing the golden feat, which is a first for her in this category.
A bigger reward for her temperament was that she bounced back from early setbacks to defeat Su Pei Ling of Chinese Taipei 5-11, 11-9, 8-11, 1-11, 14-12, 11-8, 11-9 in a grueling title clash. Meanwhile, in the semifinal she defeated her more formidable state-mate Sreeja Akula 4-3.
