Telangana State rower makes waves in Thailand
In a major boost to rowing in Telangana State, D Sairaju, from Telangana Sports School won coxless pair event silver medal along with Nikhil Golia from Uttarakhand in the Asian Junior Rowing Championship here on Thursday.
Pataya: In a major boost to rowing in Telangana State, D Sairaju, from Telangana Sports School won coxless pair event silver medal along with Nikhil Golia from Uttarakhand in the Asian Junior Rowing Championship here on Thursday.
That apart Indian rowers also won the silver in the coxless four with Jaskaran Singh, Pramod, lokendra, Akshay Patil bringing in the honours. D Sita Mahalakshmi finished sixth place in her event.
According to Dronacharya and national coach, Ismail Baig, it was a phenomenal showing by the Indians and more particularly Sairaju, who is studying in the standard XI.
Sairaju has won silver medals in the senior Nationals that were hosted in Hyderabad during Jan 16. He began rowing three years back as a sub-junior after joining the Sports School. Baig said that he has the potential to climb the ladder.
